Bethany, Okla. – The Southwestern Christian University Eagles defeated the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 11-1 in the opener of a three-game series today (Mar. 24) at Eagle Field in Bethany, Okla.

The Eagles led from the beginning, scoring one in the first and then putting up five runs in the second.

The big blow of the second inning was a three-run double by Anthony Ward, who then scored the fifth run of the frame on a double-steal.

SCU then scored two in the third and two more in the fourth on a two-run single by Kelvin Fabian.

The Evangels broke up the shutout in the fifth when Jacob Martinez drew a leadoff walk and was doubled home by Trey Henley.

Henley was three-of-three on the day for the Evangels (10-21, 3-7 SAC).

Jacob Spencer went six innings for the Eagles (21-12, 4-6 SAC), striking out four and allowing one run on four hits.

The Evangels will host a doubleheader against the Eagles tomorrow (Mar. 25) at 1 pm at James Curtis Field.
