OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University Softball Evangels swept a twinbill from the Ecclesia College Lady Royals, winning by scores of 8-0 and 11-1 today (Apr. 1) at Jack Allen Field.

Even on Apr. 1, the Evangel bats couldn't be fooled, pounding out a combined 21 hits in the two games.

In the opening tilt, the Evangels got two hits each from Tiphani Napier, Hanna Harris, Brittany Ward and Taylor Fowble.

Fowble's two-run double keyed a three-run second inning before Harris tripled home Napier in the third and scored on a single by Ward to finish a three-run third inning.

The Evangels then scored two in the fifth, ending the game on an RBI groundout by Jessica Johnson.

Morgan Wardlow pitched five scoreless frames for the Evangels, striking out four and walking none on three hits.

Ashley Hagel had two of the Lady Royals' three hits in the first game.

MACU then jumped on top in the first inning of the nightcap when Napier doubled home Taryn Callender in the first inning.

Following an RBI double by Ashtyn Rothrock in the second that briefly pulled Ecclesia even, the Evangels exploded for eight runs in the bottom of the inning.

Ward led off the second with a single and scored the first run on a double by Corrie Moore. She later came up again and hit a sacrifice fly.

Brianna Glass then drove home two runs with a triple before Napier had another RBI double that plated Ribbin Anderson. Callender also had a sacrifice fly in the frame.

The Evangels tacked on two more runs in the fourth as Harris doubled and scored on a single by Elaynie Melton. Caitlin Butler then scored Megan Wilson on an RBI groundout to finish out the scoring for MACU.

Napier was two-of-three for the Evangels (11-23) with two RBIs, with Moore also going two-of-three and Glass driving in two runs.

Courtney Anderson blanked the Lady Royals in her three innings in the circle, with one strikeout.

Taylor Fowble followed Anderson and recorded two shutout innings to close out the victory.

Randi Davis went two-of-three at the plate for the Lady Royals in the second game.

The Evangels will next be in action Tuesday (Apr. 4) at undefeated and No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University starting at 5 pm.

MACU will next be at home on Apr. 13 vs. Southwestern Assemblies of God University at 2 pm.
