OKLAHOMA CITY – Nolberto Rondon pitched seven solid innings as the Mid-America Christian University Evangels took the series opener over the Bacone College Warriors 9-4 today (Apr. 14) at James Curtis Field.

Rondon shut out the Warriors over the first six frames before giving up three in the seventh.

He got out of a bases loaded and one out jam in the first when Cameron Henderson was caught stealing home for the second out and then recorded a strikeout to end the threat.

Rondon struck out five and walked four while allowing six hits.

The Evangels got on the board in the second as Ryan Moseley drew a bases-loaded walk and plated another run on an error.

After adding a run in the fourth, the Evangels broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, capped by a two-run single from Kevin Lentzner.

Aaron Conway also singled home Cameron Kirk and Jake White had a sacrifice fly that plated Jacob Martinez in the frame.

The Warriors scored three in the seventh to break the shutout, including an RBI double by Henderson and a run-scoring single from Colton Lavergne.

Aaron Conway was a perfect three-of-three at the plate for the Evangels, with a run and an RBI.

Lentzner went two-of-three with one run and two RBIs, while Pedro Varela scored three runs.

Seth Keith came on and pitched two innings for MACU (15-27, 6-10 SAC), with one run allowed and three strikeouts.

Henderson and Emmanuel Mendez each had two hits for the Warriors (4-38, 1-18 SAC).

The Evangels and Warriors will play a twinbill tomorrow (Apr. 15) starting at 1 pm in Muskogee, Okla. to conclude the series.
