OKLAHOMA CITY – Katie Gracey delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the sixth as the Mid-America Christian University Evangels defeated the Southwestern Christian University Lady Eagles 3-1 in the second game to finish a sweep today (Apr. 18) at Jack Allen Field.  The Evangels captured the opening game 9-1 over SCU.

Gracey went two-for-three in both games for the Evangels, but no hit was bigger than her double that snapped a 1-1 tie and scored both Larissa Tate and Tiphani Napier.

Courtney Anderson then kept the Lady Eagles off the scoreboard in the seventh to finish off the win.

Anderson gave up only one unearned run despite the Lady Eagles placing the lead-off hitter on base in four of her seven innings in the circle. She struck out four and walked none in the win.

Taylor Fowble singled home Jessica Johnson in the second for the Evangels' other tally in the nightcap.

Jessica Orozco absorbed a tough loss for the Lady Eagles, giving up three runs, but only one earned over six innings.

After a leadoff homer by Rachel Benes put SCU (10-31, 4-18 SAC) on top in the second inning of the first game, the Evangels roared back with five runs in the bottom of the frame.

Taryn Callender got things started with a single, moved to second a sacrifice bunt by Fowble and scored on an RBI single from Kortney Brown.

Tate later singled home Brown and Corrie Moore before Caitlin Butler stole home on a double steal with Tate for the fourth run.

Gracey then came up and delivered an RBI double that chased home Tate to finish off the inning.

After the Evangels (14-31, 5-16 SAC) tacked on three runs in the fourth, Moore singled home Callender in the bottom of the fifth to close it out.

Brown was two-for-two in the second game for the Evangels, while Tate went two-for-three.

Morgan Wardlow started for the Evangels and allowed just the one run with three strikeouts and no walks.

The Evangels will next host Central Baptist (Ark.) Thursday afternoon (Apr. 20) beginning at 2 pm.
