OKLAHOMA CITY – Mid-America Christian University senior outfielder Jerry McNew has earned All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors as a second-team pick, the league announced today (May 10).

McNew defined himself as the premier slugger of the Evangels' NAIA era, setting career benchmarks in home runs (27) and RBIs (121) over his four-year career.

The Moore, Okla. native has hit a team-high 12 homers each of the past two seasons while also driving in a single-season record 63 runs this year.

In addition to his home run and RBI output, McNew batted .309 while also leading the Evangels in doubles (18) and slugging percentage (.592).

McNew was a big part of a unit that continued to make strides under second-year head coach Adrian Savedra.

The Evangels recorded their highest SAC finish (fifth) in school history this past season and also won 22 games, their most victories since the 2010 campaign.
