SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – At halftime of their match against John Brown University, the Mid-America Christian University men's soccer team held a 1-0 lead and they were in position to get a much needed result against the Golden Eagles.

When the dust had settled, however, the Evangels walked away from the match empty-handed.

JBU (6-4-1, 2-2-1) scored twice in the final 45 minutes, with the game winning goal coming with just 13.9 seconds left, as MACU (7-3, 1-2 SAC) fell in gut-wrenching fashion, 2-1.

MACU opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Dominik Tajak netted his 14th of the season off a cross from Oliver May. The Evangels continued to carry the play in the remainder of the period, and at the intermission, MACU held the lead 1-0.

In the second half, JBU started to gather some momentum, and in the 65th minute, JBU's Kelvin Omondi took advantage. Omondi forced a turnover and beat goalkeeper Jakob O'Meara-Gill to equalize the score at 1-1. The teams went back and forth in the waning minutes, and the match appeared to be headed to overtime, when Omondi struck again. He took a feed from Elias McCloud down the left wing, racing past the MACU defense and sliding the game winning goal into the net with just 13.9 seconds remaining.

O'Meara-Gill (6-2) took the loss despite making five saves in the match, and Adam Holt (6-4-1) earned the win, making four saves.

MACU will be back at home on Tuesday to take on the Bacone College Warriors (7-3, 2-1 SAC) at 4 p.m.
