11.24.08 - Lakewood, Co.- The Mid-America Christian University men's soccer team was crowned NCCAA Regional Champions on Saturday after a 1-0 victory over York College. The title marks the first NCCAA Regional Championship MACU has won since switching to NCCAA Division I.

MACU out-shot York 16 to 13 with seven shots on goal to York's two shots on goal. But it only took one goal and some good defense to get the win. The Evangels scored right before halftime in the 44th minute when sophomore defender Kyle Miller crossed the ball to freshman Andy Mendoza who headed the ball into the net; making it a 1-0 game going into the locker room at halftime.

MACU controlled the tempo of the game in the second half, holding York to one shot on goal.

MACU goalkeeper Austin Custar performed his second shut out of the tournament.

Winning the Regional Championship gives the Evangels an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Tournament in December.
