King's goal helps Evangels hand Lubbock Christian its first loss of the season

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Casey King kicked in his team-leading fourth goal of the season for the only goal of the match as the Mid-America Christian Evangels handed the Lubbock Christian Chaparrals their first loss of the season, 1-0 in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup Saturday afternoon (Oct. 2).
The victory gives the Evangels their four win in their last five outings.

It was a scoreless match until Kyle Miller found King from the corner and fed him a beautiful pass that King headed in from the middle of the box in the 52nd minute.

The Evangels (4-3-2, 1-1 SAC) defense would make it stand over the final 38:30 to seal the victory.

The match was intense throughout, with a combined 31 fouls and four yellow cards.

Despite both teams combining for 28 shots, scoring opportunities were limited with only six total shots-on-goal in the match.

The Evangels out-shot the Chaparrals 15-13 overall but the Chaparrals (7-1-1, 1-1 SAC) held a 4-2 edge in shots-on-goal.

Austin Custar stopped two shots for the Evangels and Alistair Caldwell recorded one save for the Chaparrals.

King led the Evangels with four shots, while Jorge Martinez also had four shots for LCU.

The Evangels will remain at home and host the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in a SAC matchup on Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 5) at 3 p.m.
