OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Evangels have been picked to finish tied for eighth in the Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer preseason coaches poll.

The Evangels were tied for the eighth spot with St. Gregory's University.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers, winners of two of the last three league championships, were picked to finish first again after receiving the maximum eight first-place votes due to coaches not being allowed to pick their own team.

Oklahoma City University was next, followed by Oklahoma Baptist  University, who received the other first place tally.

Lubbock Christian University and John Brown University rounded out the top five, with Rogers State University, Wayland Baptist University, MACU and St. Gregory's winding up the poll.

MACU will be bolstered by the return of senior all-conference defender Andrew Webster this year.

The Evangels will kick off the 2012 season on Aug. 24 at home against Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
