Men's Soccer limits Southwestern (Kan.) to one shot in 4-0 rout

Winfield, Kan. -- The Mid-America Christian University Evangels used a stifling defensive effort to improve to 5-0 on the season with a 4-0 victory over the Southwestern (Kan.) Moundbuilders in a non-conference men's soccer matchup today (Sept. 15) in Winfield, Kan.).

Raphael Bonelle put the Evangels on top with his team-leading fifth goal of the season at the 34:17 mark of the opening half.

Defender Andrew Webster then got into the scoring act with a goal from Javier Hernandez with 15:09 remaining until halftime.

Hernandez then found the net at the 3:12 point to give the Evangels a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.

Duncan Mbugua finished things off with a score at the 23:43 mark of the second half.

Bonelle and Mbugua combined for 13 shot-attempts to help the Evangels out-shoot the Moundbuilders by a staggering 25-1 overall and 11-0 on-goal.

With the Evangels holding the Moundbuilders without a shot-on-goal, goalkeeper Tyler McIntosh didn't have to do much to earn his third shutout victory of the season.

Shawn Pancoast turned away seven shots in the net for the Moundbuilders.
