OKLAHOMA CITY -- Fresh off a stellar week of five goals and one assist, Mid-America Christian University junior midfielder Raphael Bonelle has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today (Oct. 14).
Bonelle powered the Evangels to a pair of victories over Oklahoma Baptist University and Johnson and Wales University this past week.
The 5-10 native of Sao Paulo, Brazil recorded a hat trick of three goals in a 5-4 victory over OBU, then had a hand in each of the Evangels' scores in a 3-1 victory over JWU with two goals and one assist.
Bonelle's strong season has him tied for the lead in the Sooner Athletic Conference with 10 goals and is second in the league in points per game (2.40).
With his 10 goals this season, Bonelle has tied his own school single-season record for scores since MACU became an NAIA school.
Bonelle and the Evangels will be in action tomorrow afternoon (Oct. 15) at home vs. Texas Wesleyan University at 4 p.m. at MACU Soccer Field.
