Fresno Pacific Blanks Evangels 2-0 in NCCAA Tournament

Kissimmee, Fla. -- The Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds netted a goal late in the first half and another in the second to defeat the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 2-0 in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament at Austin-Tindell Regional Park in Kissemmee, Fla.

The Evangels had chances early offensively but couldn't get one through the net.  FPU then got on the board first when Bruno Pessao put in a rebound off a save by Tyler McIntosh with just 31 seconds left in the opening period.

Jorge Chedraui scored the Sunbirds' second goal off an assist from Gustavo Silva at the 69:40 mark of the match.

FPU out-shot the Evangels 21-15 overall and 13-8 on-goal.  Raphael Bonelle led the Evangels with four shots, while Chedraui recorded a match-high five shots for the Sunbirds.

McIntosh was busy in the net, stopping 11 shots for the Evangels to keep them within striking distance.  Fabian Rangel made seven saves for the Sunbirds.
