Kissimmee, Fla. -- The Mid-America Christian University Evangels were defeated 4-0 at the hands of the Lee University (Tenn.) Flames in the second day of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Tournament at Austin-Tindall Park in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Flames took control early as Quade Marinell took a corner kick from David Perez just 17 seconds into the match.
At the 15:00 mark, Chevon Roberts scored on a penalty kick to put the Flames up 2-0.
Perez then assisted on another corner kick, this time feeding Gabe Franco for a header at the 35:36 mark for a 3-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, Perez got into the scoring act with a goal from Roberts in the 69th minute to put it away.
The Evangels couldn't get one through the net despite out-shooting the Flames 12-9 overall. But the Flames held a 6-3 edge in shots-on-goal.
Raphael Bonelle and Roberts each recorded a match-high four shots.
Tyler McIntosh made two saves for the Evangels before giving way to Mike Chavira for the final 9:26. Tom Halsall stopped three shots for the Flames.
The Evangels wrap up the season with an 11-9-1 overall record, equaling their most wins (2009) since joining the NAIA.
MACU should also field a competitive squad next season as 93 percent of its goal scoring is expected to return, led by Bonelle's school single-season record 15 scores this season.
