McIntosh Named NAIA Defensive Player of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY – One day after being named the Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, Mid-America Christian University sophomore goalkeeper Tyler McIntosh has earned the prestigious NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week, the organization announced today (Sept. 24).

McIntosh earned the award after notching a pair of shutouts this past week, starting with the NCAA D-I Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles on Monday night (Sept. 16).

He made six saves at ORU in a double-overtime 0-0 draw, handing the Golden Eagles only their second shutout of the season.

McIntosh then blanked Friends University on Tuesday night (Sept. 18) on four saves for his third shutout of the season.  He only needs one more shutout to match his total as a freshman last season.

The Sand Springs, native currently ranks third in the Sooner Athletic Conference in saves per game (4.40) and fourth in goals-against-average (0.96). His GAA is also tied for 36th nationally in the NAIA.

McIntosh and the Evangels will be looking for their third straight victory tonight when they play at Bethel (Kan.) at 7:30 p.m. in North Newton, Kan.
