OKLAHOMA CITY -- Daniel Lozano scored two goals to lead the University of Houston-Victoria Jaguars past the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 3-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon (Sept. 7) at MACU Soccer Field.
It didn't take long for the Jaguars to get on the board as Jhostan Padron scored after gaining possession off of a deflection just 52 seconds into the contest.
Lozano then scored the first of his two goals at the 22:00 mark for a 2-0 lead.
Marcelo Lima scored off a goalkeeper deflection in the 30th minute that got the Evangels on the board heading into the break.
But Lozano gave the Jaguars (3-2) another two-goal edge by turning and finding the net from 20 yards out at the 56:20 mark.
The Evangels (1-1) were out-shot 12-7 overall but only 7-6 on-goal.
Tyler McIntosh made four saves in the net for the Evangels, while the Jaguars' Henrick Hundesrugge stopped five shots.
The Evangels will next play at Ecclesia College on Tuesday afternoon (Sept. 10) at 4 p.m. in Springdale, Ark.
