OKLAHOMA CITY -- Adam Key scored just three minutes into the overtime session to propel the Southwestern Christian University Eagles to a 3-2 win over the Mid-America Christian University Evangels in a terrific Sooner Athletic Conference outing today (Oct. 17) at MACU Soccer Field.
Key's score came off a pass from Kachi Silwamba to the middle of the box at the 93:03 mark.
The Evangels (5-8, 1-4 SAC) had battled back from 2-0 down to tie the score on a blast from 40 yards away by Joe Alvarez and then a score from Tej Trivedi in the 70th minute.
It didn't take long for SCU to jump on top as Jamie Campbell found the net just two minutes into the match and then Silwamba made it 2-0 by scoring in the middle of a crowd in the box at the 31:12 point.
The Eagles (10-2-1, 4-2 SAC), who received 15 votes in this week's NAIA Top 25 poll, out-shot the Evangels 17-10 overall and 10-6 on-goal.
Tyler McIntosh stopped six shots in the net for the Evangels and Kyle Mickleburgh made four saves for the Eagles.
The Evangels will next face off with No. 13-ranked USAO next Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 21) at 3 p.m. in Chickasha, Okla.
