OCU Knocks Off Evangels, 3-1

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City University Stars stayed unbeaten in the Sooner Athletic Conference with a 3-1 win over the Mid-America Christian University Evangels today (Oct. 25) at MACU Soccer Field.

The Stars (7-3-2, 5-0-1 SAC) struck first when Kieran McLachlan took a cross from Logan Stewart to the middle of the box in the 12th minute and scored to make it 1-0.

Stewart then assisted on a header that found the net by Aron Chapman at the 21:08 mark that put the Stars up by two goals.

The Evangels fought back though and cut the lead in half on a score by Devin Theisen off a deflection just two minutes later.

But that's all the Evangels (5-10, 1-6 SAC) could muster and an own goal in the 55th minute was all OCU needed to put it away.

Despite only scoring one goal, the Evangels managed to out-shoot the Stars 11-7 overall and 6-4 on-goal.

Tyler McIntosh made two saves in the net for the Evangels and Vladimir Kalajdzic stopped five shots for the Stars.

The Evangels will wrap up the home portion of their schedule Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 28) against John Brown University at 3 p.m.
