OKLAHOMA CITY -- The John Brown University Golden Eagles scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 3-1 on Senior Day today (Oct. 28) at MACU Soccer Field.

The Evangels had broken out on top when lone senior Michael Johns scored off a cross to the middle of the box by Martin Mata at the 8:27 mark.

But Eli Simonsen brought JBU back with the first of his two goals on a free kick in the 25th minute to tie the score.

It remained deadlocked until Martin Gonzalez scored off an assist from Guilherme Barbosa that he blasted in from 25 yards away in the 64th minute.

Simonsen then finished it off with a goal off a corner kick from Gonzalez at the 72:41 mark.

Despite being out-shot 22-6 overall and 16-3 on-goal, Tyler McIntosh kept the Evangels (5-11, 1-7 SAC) close by making a career-high 13 saves in the net.

Adam Holt stopped two shots for the Golden Eagles (8-6-2, 4-3-2 SAC).

In his final home, Johns led the Evangels with three shots and two shots-on-goal.

The Evangels will wrap up the regular season at St. Gregory's University Saturday afternoon (Nov. 1) at 1 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
