Men's Soccer Grabs Draw at Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – The match on Tuesday night between the men's soccer teams from Mid-America Christian University and Oklahoma City University was a back and forth affair all night, with both teams generating chances deep into overtime.

The goalkeepers, however, were equal to every task, and when the evening was over, MACU and OCU had settled nothing and the match ended in a draw.

MACU (9-3-1, 3-2-1 SAC) had all three shots on goal, but they could not solve Oklahoma City goalkeeper Vladimir Kalajdzic, who made the match's only three saves as the Evangels and OCU (10-3-1, 3-2-1 SAC) played to a scoreless draw.

MACU's Dominik Tajak had several early chances, including a 1-on-1 rush from about 12 yards, but he was unable to find the frame on any of the chances, and the match remained scoreless. In the 40th minute, Tajak put the only shot on frame in the half, but Kaladzic was there for the save and at intermission, the match remained scoreless.

Brand Bennions and Tajak each had a shot on goal in the second half, and they came within 90 seconds of each other, but neither was able to find the net. OCU outshot MACU 4-3 in the second stanza, but they were unable to get any shots on target, and the match went to overtime.

In the extra session, OCU appeared to win the game in the 100th minute. With less than a minute remaining, Aboubakr Diallo had a ball deflect behind Jakob O'Meara-Gill for the apparent game-winner, but the goal was nullified on a handball, and the match proceeded to the second extra session. In the final minute of double overtime, Tajak got a head on a shot at the near post off a corner kick from Kacey Owensby, but the shot was blocked before it could get through, and the clock expired with the match remaining scoreless.

O'Meara-Gill (8-1-1) earned his sixth shutout of the season, and Kalajdzic had three saves in earning his seventh clean sheet.

MACU will face a key road test on Saturday as they finish their 2017 road slate. The Evangels will head to Bethany, Oklahoma to take on the Southwestern Christian University Eagles (12-3, 6-1 SAC) at 2 p.m.
