Tajak NCCAA Central Region Player of the Year; Seven Evangels on All-Region Team

BETHANY, Okla. – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-Central Region men's soccer team was announced on Wednesday morning, and the Mid-America Christian University Evangels were well represented, with their leading scorer leading the way.

Sophomore forward Dominik Tajak was named the Region Player of the Year, and he was one of four Evangels to be named to the All-Region First Team. Joining him on the First Team were Oliver May, Simon Wieschemann, and Jakob O'Meara-Gill; and on the second team, MACU placed three more players – Andres Ochoa, Brad Bennions, and Giovanni Sosa.

Tajak claimed the Region Player of the Year honor after pouring in 22 goals during the regular year. He scored 12 of those 22 markers in Sooner Athletic Conference play, and he ran up a total of 46 points on the year. May spent the season splitting time between the wing and the back line, but he took his play to the next level after settling into an outside defensive role. He and Wieschemann combined to anchor a defensive line that helped MACU post a program record eight regular season shutouts, and they helped O'Meara-Gill post seven clean sheets himself.

Ochoa scored three goals and added five assists on the year, earning a place on the second team All-Region. Bennions scored a goal in the SAC Quarterfinal, and he added five assists during the campaign, and Sosa scored twice and added three assists.

The teams were comprised of 15 players each, with the four teams participating in the Regional Championship taking all 30 spots. Southwestern Christian University claimed 10 spots on the team, MACU and Central Christian College each had seven, and McMurry University had six honorees.
