O'Meara-Gill Earns Final SAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Honor

OKLAHOMA CITY – With the regular season in the rearview mirror, the Sooner Athletic Conference announced its final men's soccer Weekly Awards of the season on Monday afternoon, and the Mid-America Christian University program was once again recognized.

Jakob O'Meara-Gill was named the SAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, bringing the Evangels total number of honors to six for the season.

O'Meara-Gill, a 5-11 senior goalkeeper from Balnarring, Australia, allowed two goals on the week in 200 minutes of action. He made three saves in a 3-1 win over Texas Wesleyan University on Senior Day, but his better performance was in the SAC quarterfinal against the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma. The Evangel netminder made nine saves in 110 minutes of a 1-1 draw at USAO, and then in the shootout, he saved two of the four attempts from the Drovers, as MACU advanced to their first SAC Semifinal in program history. The Evangels also set a program record with their 12th victory of the season in the 3-1 win over TWU.

The Evangels will be in action on Monday at 5 p.m. at Wayland Baptist University in the SAC Semifinals, with the winner advancing to face Southwestern Christian University in the SAC Championship Match.
