O'Meara-Gill Earns Academic All-District? Honors

OKLAHOMA CITY – With the Mid-America Christian University men's soccer team getting set for the NCCAA Regional Tournament next week, the Evangels received another individual honor off the field on Thursday afternoon.

Senior goalkeeper Jakob O'Meara-Gill was named College Division Academic All-District Four by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). O'Meara-Gill was the lone goalkeeper selected to the District Four All-District Team, and he was one of only four goalkeepers to earn the honor in the College Division.

The Academic All-District awards are given as a part of the Academic All-America® program. The program is the only awards program that takes into consideration a student-athlete's prowess both in the classroom and on the field. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must have achieved an academic standing of at least a sophomore, and they must have been at their nominating institution for at least one calendar year. They must have a minimum GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale, and they must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.

O'Meara-Gill holds a 4.0 GPA in his Masters of Business Administration program at MACU after achieving a 4.0 GPA as an undergraduate student as well. On the Field, he has compiled an 11-3-2 record with a 0.87 Goals Against Average and a .795 Save Percentage. He has backstopped the Evangels to the most wins in a season in program history, and he has amassed seven clean sheets – another MACU season record.

O'Meara-Gill advances to a pool of four goalkeepers who are eligible for selection to the College Division Academic All-America® Teams. The voting will be conducted by CoSIDA's Academic All-America® Committee, and the AAA honorees will be announced on Monday, December 4 at 11 AM CST.
