May Earns MACU's Second NCCAA Men's Soccer SAW Award of 2018

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The National Christian College Athletic Association announced its weekly Student-Athlete of the Week awards on Monday afternoon, and for the second time in three weeks, the Mid-America Christian University men's soccer team had one of the honorees.

Oliver May, a defender by trade, earned the Offensive SAW award following his clutch performance for the Evangels in their 3-1 win over Central Christian College of Kansas on Thursday evening.

May, a 5-9 senior from Sheffield, England, got the Evangels offense on the board in the first half when he assisted on the first goal of the game in the 34th minute when he found Kacey Owensby on a broken play off a corner kick. After the Tigers tied the match early in the second half, May lifted the Evangels to victory with two late tallies - the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute, and an insurance marker with just under two minutes to play. The goals helped propel MACU into a second place tie in the Sooner Athletic Conference, just one point behind the conference leaders from Southwestern Christian University with four matches to play.

May and the Evangels will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon at home after weather forced a site switch of their match with Southweatern Assemblies of God University. The match is slated to kick-off at 3:30 p.m.
