OKLAHOMA CITY – Coming off its first ever NCCAA National Championship, the Mid-America Christian men's soccer team will get the opportunity to face a professional soccer team this week as the Evangels will play the Oklahoma City Energy Football Club in the organization's first preseason exhibition match of the 2020 season at Taft Stadium on Saturday, Jan. 25.

Evangels fans can get an early look at the returners for the 2020 season and how they stack up against some of the best professionals in the United Soccer League.

All of the MACU underclassmen will compete in the match, including NCCAA All-Americans Rodrigo Albuquerque, Fabian Forisch and Austen Parker as well as All-Sooner Athletic Conference performers Dejue Johnson, Simon Wieschemann, Pero Mikulic and Carlos Castrejon. Also competing for the Evangels will be the NCCAA Player of the Year, Stephen Nganga.

The Evangels are coming off the most successful season in program history in December, finishing the campaign with a 20-3-1 record and winning the NCCAA National Championship in dominant fashion, defeating Grace College (Ind.) 5-0 in the championship match. MACU broke multiple program records along the way, including shattering the program's single season wins mark.

Mid-America Christian featured one of the most prolific offenses and defenses in the nation, ranking fourth in the NAIA in total goals scored (94), third in assists (81) and fourth in shutouts (13).

Admission to Saturday's match will start at 1 p.m. and will be free to the public.
