GREENVILLE, S.C. – After helping lead the Mid-America Christian men's soccer team to its most dominant performance of the season, sophomore defender Fabian Forisch was selected as the NCCAA Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.
The NCCAA Second Team All-American is collecting his first defensive weekly honor and is the third Evangels player to earn one of the NCCAA's weekly awards after Rodrigo Albuquerque earned the offensive award in back-to-back weeks.
Forisch helped spearhead a defense that kept the Evangels with ball control for most of the contest, allowing a Manhattan Christian (Kan.) team that was averaging 5.67 goals per game to just three shots with only one landing on-goal in a 9-0 victory.
On top of being pivotal in the MACU possession, the Erlangen, Germany product was also heavily involved in the attack as well, scoring his first goal of the season in the 23rd minute to give the Evangels a 4-nil lead at the time.
Mid-America Christian will look to keep its winning streak intact on Friday as the Evangels will be taking on Sooner Athletic Conference rival Science & Arts at Evangel Field with an approximate 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
