OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian men's soccer team is set to close out the 2020 portion of its split season in Waxahachie, Texas as the Evangels will face off against Southwestern Assemblies of God for a 3 p.m. kickoff on Friday, Nov. 13.
LAST TIME OUT
Mid-America Christian (5-1) bounced back from its first loss of the season with a strong performance against Oklahoma Panhandle State at Wanda Rhodes Soccer Complex in Bethany, Oklahoma on Nov. 6.
Junior forward
Rodrigo Albuquerque put the Evangels in-front with his fourth game-winner of the season in the 13
th minute to propel MACU to a 3-0 victory over the Aggies. The Recife, Brazil native scored the Evangels' lone goal in the second half as well as recorded an assist on
Endri Copa's 22
nd minute score.
MACU outshot OPSU by a 17-7 margin in the contest, including notching a 9-2 margin in shots on-goal.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Southwestern Assemblies of God will enter the matchup with a 1-1-1 record and is coming off a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat in double overtime at Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday.
SAGU has struggled offensively through the first three matches of the season, averaging just 1.33 goals per game, but have also played solid defensively by allowing the same clip.
Four different players have scored goals for the Lions this season as Landon Beach, Mazvita Chidarara, Adrian Cruz and Jadhel Hill have each found the back of the net once this season. The Lions have notched two assists on their four goals with Issa Buhirwa and Alejandro Herrera tallying the dimes.
Julio Guevara has stared all three matches for the Lions this season in goal, giving up a 1.33 goals against average and has made 13 saves for a .765 save percentage.

Fabian Forisch to secure the 1-nil victory at Evangel Field on Oct. 10, 2019. The last time the two teams met in Waxahachie came on Oct. 18, 2016,
Caleb Roldan scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the 76
th minute to come away with a 2-1 road win.
ROAD WARRIORS
Competing in its first road contest of the 2020-21 season, Mid-America Christian will be looking to replicate its road success from the 2019 season. During last year's NCCAA National Championship run, the Evangels went 6-1-1 in road contests, which was the program's best record away from Evangel Field since the program moved up to the NAIA level in 2008. The previous best road record for the program came in just the year prior, as MACU amassed a 7-2-1 record on the road during the 2018 campaign.

While senior defender
Endri Copa's biggest impact is usually made on the defensive end, the Piobbico, Italy product has been stepping up for the Evangels on the offensive end as well. Copa scored his second goal of the season on a 22
nd minute breakaway and by also dishing out a pair of assists so far this year, currently ranks fourth on the team in points, sitting only behind
Rodrigo Albuquerque,
Pero Mikulic and
Dante Luz for the team lead.
