No. 4 Men’s Soccer Heads to Central Christian, Take On Tigers in SAC Championship Rematch

OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 4 Mid-America Christian men's soccer team is preparing to head to McPherson, Kan. tomorrow as the Evangels will face Central Christian for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff in a rematch of the 2020-21 SAC Championship match.

    • Mid-America Christian picked up its first win over Oklahoma City since 2018 on Tuesday night as the Evangels put together an offensive onslaught in the second half, outscoring the Stars 3-0 to close out a 4-1 victory.
    • The Evangels have shown to be a strong second half team so far this season. Of MACU's 32 goals, 21 have come in the second half or overtime.
    • Junior defender Fabian Forisch had a breakout game for the Evangels on the offensive end, finishing the match with two goals, including the game-winner in the 54th minute.
    • Cesar Ramirez also scored his first goal of the season on a rocket shot from the right side of the goal box in the ninth minute.
    • Despite the Evangels allowing just 1.11 goals per game, Mid-America Christian is still seeking its first shutout of the 2021 campaign. While MACU has allowed a goal in every game, MACU has only allowed more than one goal once this season, that coming in a 3-2 win at No. 16 Georgia Gwinnett on Sept. 6.

    • The Tigers have been getting strong contributions from Drew Schrader this season. The sophomore forward leads the team with nine goals and three assists four 21 points. Central Christian has also been getting some solid performances from its senior goalkeeper Sebastian Herrera, as the All-SAC keeper from a year ago possesses a 1.23 goals allowed average and a .730 save percentage.
    • As a team, CCCK is averaging 2.4 goals on 16.7 shots per game while allowing just 1.1 per contest.
    • The last time Mid-America Christian and Central Christian faced each other, it came in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Championship on Apr. 9, as the upstart Tigers pulled off two upsets to meet the Evangels in the title tilt. The two teams battled through harsh, windy conditions to end the match in a 0-0 draw. In the penalty kick shootout to determine the champion, the Evangels got goals from Luan Cesar, Dejue Johnson and Mason Gonzalez while Sven van den Oever made a pair of saves to lead MACU to a 3-0 victory.
