OKLAHOMA CITY – After leading the No. 4 Mid-America Christian men's soccer team to two pivotal Sooner Athletic Conference wins last week, junior defender Fabian Forisch was selected for both the SAC Defensive Player of the Week and the NCCAA DI Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week honors on Monday.
In the battle between the 2020-21 SAC Regular Season and Tournament champions on Oct. 5, Forisch made a major impact on both the offensive and defensive ends as the Evangels came away with their first shutout victory of the season and their first win at Southwestern Christian since 2012.
In the 1-nil decision at Cagle Field, Forisch made his impact felt on the defensive end of that victory as well as the Evangels needed to play down a man for the final 23 minutes to secure the victory.
The Evangels followed it with another stellar defensive performance at home against Science & Arts, as MACU allowed just one penalty kick goal and three shots on-goal to seal a 2-1 victory to improve to 12-0 on the season and 4-0 in SAC play.
Forisch is earning his first ever SAC defensive honor and his second NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week award.
Mid-America Christian will return to action on Saturday as the Evangels will host Texas Wesleyan for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at the Mike & Helen Dill Soccer Field.
