OKLAHOMA CITY – The No. 4 Mid-America Christian men's soccer team will be taking on Southwestern Christian in a face-off between the 2020-21 SAC Tournament Champion and Regular Season Champion for a 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Cagle Field in Bethany, Okla. this afternoon.

  • In a rematch of the 2020-21 Sooner Athletic Conference Championship, Mid-America Christian was able to rally back from a 1-0 halftime deficit without its leading scorer Rodrigo Albuquerque competing at Central Christian. Luan Cesar scored almost right out of the gate in the second half while Salvador Garcia netted the go-ahead goal in the 68^th minute before Cesar Ramirez ultimately kicked through the game-winner in the 75^th minute.
  • By recording two goals and an assist for the week, Ramirez was selected as the NCCAA Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week. Ramirez is the fourth Evangel this season to garner that award as Albuquerque has earned the accolade twice while Ricardo Ferreira was selected for the honor on Sept. 6.
  • By getting the win against the Tigers, MACU is the first team in the NAIA to reach 10 wins on the season with an unblemished 10-0 record.
  • Mid-America Christian has continued to be a strong offensive team throughout the season, averaging 3.5 goals per game against one of the toughest schedules in the NAIA while the 92 corner kicks MACU has attempted is by far and away the most of any school in the nation.

  • Since suffering a 3-1 loss to Bethel (Kan.) back on Sept. 8, Southwestern Christian has been on bit of a roll, going 3-0-1 in its last four matches. The last time the Eagles saw the field, they faced off at No. 22 Science & Arts on Sept. 28, battling to a 2-2 draw.
  • As a team, the Eagles are averaging 2.7 goals per game, ranking 46^th in the NAIA.
  • The Evangels will be looking to avenge a loss to SCU in their last meeting as the Eagles came away with a 1-0 victory at the Mike & Helen Dill Soccer Field on Mar. 23.
  • MACU will also be looking for its first win in Bethany since Sept. 20, 2012. The last time the two teams met at Cagle Field, Southwestern Christian scored a golden goal in double overtime to come away with a 2-1 win on Oct. 15, 2019.
