OKLAHOMA CITY – It will be a battle of the two top teams in the Sooner Athletic Conference at the Dill Soccer Field on Tuesday night as the No. 2 MACU men's soccer team will take on crosstown foe Southwestern Christian for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.

  • Mid-America Christian is coming off its worst defensive showing of the season by allowing a season-high two goals in a 2-2 draw with Oklahoma City on Senior Night Saturday. It was the first match during the 2022 season the Evangels conceded more than one goal.
  • Despite coming away with the tie, the Evangels got a strong performance from its scoring leader Rodrigo Albuquerque, who tallied a goal and an assist for his fifth three-plus-point performance of the season.
  • After scoring a pair of goals on eight shots, including six on-target shots last week, senior midfielder Jack Price was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Price, the Week 9 recipient, is the third MACU player to receive the SAC's offensive honor after Rodrigo Albuquerque earned the honor in Week 4 and Week 7.
  • By getting the point off the draw, Mid-America Christian boosted its Sooner Athletic Conference points to 17 with its 5-0-2 league mark, keeping two points ahead of Southwestern Christian at 15 with its 4-0-3 conference record. John Brown and Oklahoma City are currently tied for third in the SAC with 13 points each on their 4-2-1 records.

  • Southwestern Christian battled back from a one-goal deficit against Science & Arts on Saturday as Kodai Tanaka fired in the equalizer in the 51^st minute to force a 1-1 draw.
  • While the Eagles have struggled offensively in the 2022 season, netting just the seventh-most goals with 26 on a 2.17 per game average, the Eagles have been stout on the defensive end, allowing the third-fewest goals at 17 (1.42 GAA) for a plus-9 goal differential.
  • Spearheading that strong Eagles defense is freshman goalkeeper Salvatore Della Valle. The SAC Defensive Player of the Week ranks second in the Sac in total saves with 55 and is coming off a solid week, allowing just a pair of goals and made nine saves to lead SCU to a 3-1 win over Oklahoma City and a 1-1 draw with the Drovers.
  • A rematch of the 2021 Sooner Athletic Conference Championship match, Mid-America Christian holds a 13-10-1 lead in the all-time series and have bested Southwestern Christian in three of the last four games. In that title tilt at the Dill Soccer Field on Nov. 11, 2021, Luan Cesar knocked in the game-winning goal in the 38^th minute before Endri Copa scored some insurance in the 60^th minute to secure the 2-nil victory.
