Mid-America Christian to Host First Ever NAIA Men’s Soccer Opening Round

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) unveiled its 10 NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round sites on Thursday morning as Mid-America Christian University has been selected as one of the host sites.

The opening round sites will host the first round games on Thursday, Nov. 17 prior to each region's championship match being held on Saturday, Nov. 19. The victors will then advance to the NAIA National Championship final site, which will be played at the Jack Allen Soccer Complex in Decatur, Ala. from Nov. 29-Dec. 5.

It is the first time Mid-America Christian is hosting an NAIA Championship event in any sport. MACU was determined as one of the opening round sites after being selected by NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Selection Committee, a committee comprised of head coaches and administrators from around the nation. The selection process takes into account geographical location, facilities as well as host qualifications.

The MACU men's soccer team enters postseason play as the No. 2 team in the NAIA with a 14-1-2 overall record and is coming off its second consecutive Sooner Athletic Conference regular season title with a 7-0-2 mark in league play.

The Evangels have shown they are amongst one of the elite programs in the NAIA over the last two seasons, boasting a pair of NAIA Top 10 wins this season over No. 6 Missouri Valley and No. 4 Columbia (Mo.).

Mid-America Christian will open SAC Tournament play on Saturday with the quarterfinal round against Wayland Baptist. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. at the Dill Soccer Field.
