However, the Evangels were able to muster up enough behind Kolby Godbolt's first career brace and Yasha Schaerer's match-winning penalty kick in the 61st minute.
    • Even though it was a close result, MACU dominated a bulk load of the possession in the contest, outshooting SAGU 17-5 with a 9-3 margin in shots on-goal.
    • By getting an assist on Godbolt's second goal of the match, Jack Price cemented himself in the top 10 of MACU's NAIA Era record book in another statistical category as he now sits in a tie for eighth in assists with 12 in his three-year Evangels career.
    • It was an important win for the Evangels as MACU needed the win to stay within striking distance of John Brown at the top of the SAC table. The win moved MACU to 4-0-1 in conference play, giving them 13 points while the Golden Eagles currently sit at the top with 15 points behind a 5-0 record.

    • The Pioneers enter the week in a three-way tie for third in the SAC standings with a 3-2 league mark for nine conference points, sitting along side Southwestern Assemblies of God and Central Christian.
    • While Wayland Baptist is getting solid production out of Daniel Ruiz, Jamol Williams and Harry Garbutt, who have combined to score 17 goals, the Pioneers have struggled as a whole on the offensive end, ranking seventh in the SAC in goals per game (2.15). However, the Pioneers are strong in the defense, conceding just the fourth-fewest goals per game at 1.20.
    • The Pioneers defensively have been splitting time at goalkeeper between senior Adriano Coppelecchia and and Louis Pryce while Pryce has been the most effective keeper for WBU this season, allowing just 0.91 goals while saving .800 percent of shots on-target, the second-highest save percentage in the SAC.
    • Mid-America Christian has fared well against Wayland Baptist since it won its NAIA National Championship in 2017. Ever since getting a 1-0 victory at the Dill Soccer Field against WBU on Sept. 29, 2018, the Evangels have won the last seven meetings, which includes a 4-1 victory at home in the SAC Quarterfinal on Nov. 5, 2022.
