OKLAHOMA CITY – Starting the second half of Sooner Athletic Conference play, the MACU Men's Soccer team will be seeking an important result against one of its biggest rivals as the Evangels prepare to head to Bethany, Okla. on Saturday for a 3 p.m. match against Southwestern Christian at Cagle Field.

• Team Notes:
  • Mid-America Christian put together back-to-back strong showings on its home pitch as the Evangels cruised to a 3-0 win over Nelson at the Dill Soccer Field on Tuesday. Over the last two matches at home, the Evangels have outscored their opposition 7-1.
  • Ryan Jeanfreau was the star for MACU as he was involved in all three of the Evangels' scoring plays. The Mandeville, La. product netted the game-winning goal in the 22^nd minute before tallying a pair of assists on Haruya Higuchi and Jimmy Cabrera's goals in the second half.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Dante Caffaro continued his incredible run in-goal for the Evangels. Making his sixth start, the Brazilian stopper snared four saves to earn his second shutout of the season and improving to 3-0-2 in-goal.
  • After a brutal non-conference schedule, the Evangels challenging preseason has prepared them well for SAC play, as MACU currently owns the strongest strength of schedule in the entire NAIA.

  • After suffering a 1-0 loss to Oklahoma City last Saturday, Southwestern Christian bounced back with a big road win at Wayland Baptist on Tuesday. While both teams were evenly matched 10-10 in the shots category, the Eagles effectively found the back of the net on three of their six on-target shots to pull out the 3-1 victory.
  • Through four SAC matches, SCU is the top rated defense, allowing only a 0.75 goals allowed average while the Evangels sit right behind in second at 1.00. Meanwhile, SCU ranks fourth in the SAC on the offensive end with 1.50 goals per game while the defense will have to contend with the league's top scoring offense in MACU at 2.75 goals per contest.
  • The SCU attack is led by junior forward Augustine Mateos as the first-year Eagle has netted six goals and an assist for 13 points, netting the sixth-most goals in the SAC. On the defensive front, Enzo Camps has held down the fort in the SCU goal for the last two seasons, as he currently possesses a 1.11 goals allowed average, the fifth-best rate in the SAC.
  • Since the 2004 season, Mid-America Christian has controlled the all-time series, owning a 16-10-2 record in that time frame and has been especially good since 2021 with a 5-0-1 mark in that time frame. The last time the two teams met last season at the Dill Soccer Field, it was a defensive slugfest as the match ended in a 0-0 draw. When the two sides squared off last at Cagle Field, it came on Oct. 3, 2023 as the Evangels ran away with a 4-1 victory with Jack Price and Kareem Williams each getting on the brace with a pair of goals apiece.
