Men’s Soccer Jaunts to John Brown for Featured NAIA Game of the Week

OKLAHOMA CITY – With the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship hanging in the balance, the MACU Men's Soccer team is preparing to make the trip to Siloam Springs, Ark. on Saturday for a 7 p.m. kickoff against John Brown at Alumni Field in the featured NAIA Game of the Week on the Urban Edge Network.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 6-6-4 (4-1-2 SAC)
  • Last Match: Lost vs. Oklahoma Panhandle State – 1-0 – Oct. 20, 2025 – Dill Soccer Field
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian is coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Oklahoma Panhandle State at the Dill Soccer Field on Monday. While the Evangels controlled the possession, outshooting the Aggies by a 19-7 margin, MACU struggled to put shots on-frame as both teams equally placed three shots on-goal.
    • The result snapped an incredible streak for MACU as it was first SAC loss for the Evangels in the last 43 league matches. The last time the Evangels dropped a Sooner Athletic Conference game came to Southwestern Christian on Mar. 23, 2021 during the COVID-19 impacted 2020 season when the league games were moved to the spring of 2021 due to the pandemic.
    • Another amazing streak was snapped in the defeat as Ryan Jeanfreau saw his five-match goal streak come to an end. The senior forward did still lead the team on the offensive end with four shots, putting two on-goal.
    • The Evangels are currently in the midst of a three-horse race for the Sooner Athletic Conference regular season championship. Currently, the Evangels and John Brown are tied for second in the SAC standings with 14 points (4-1-2), just a point back of Oklahoma City (15, 4-0-3). The last two games are setting up for an exciting finish as the Golden Eagles and Stars will also face off in the last game of the season on Tuesday.

  • Team Notes:
    • John Brown is coming off back-to-back 2-2 results at Alumni Field after playing Oklahoma Panhandle State to a draw on Oct. 18 before the Eagles came away with a tie on Oct. 21 when SCU scored the game-tying goal with 2:42 remaining.
    • The Golden Eagles enter the weekend as the top scoring team in the SAC, averaging 2.43 goals per game; JBU has been slightly suspect on the defensive end, allowing the sixth-most goals per game in the league at 1.57.
    • JBU features three stellar players on the offensive side of the pitch in Alejandro Gallardo, Atim Roper, and Marcos Miranda. The trio have combined to score 17 goals and dish out 21 assists for 55 total points while that also includes Gallardo missing four games due to injury.
    • On the defensive side, senior goalkeeper Adam Tebbs has seen the bulk load of the action in-goal for the Golden Eagles. In his 10 starts, Tebbs is allowing a 1.56 goals allowed average and has made 28 saves for a .667 save percentage.
    • Even though JBU owns the all-time series lead, Mid-America Christian has controlled the matchups since the 2018 season as MACU has won the last nine meetings. In last year's match, the Evangels won a 3-0 affair at the Dill Soccer Field on Oct. 8, 2024 as Enzo Nogue, Nicolas Cervantes, and Federico Palacios found the back of the net. The last time the two sides faced off at Alumni Field on Oct. 21, 2023, the Evangels grounded out a 1-0 defensive slugfest as Pietro Musso scored the game-winner in the 59th minute.
