Men’s Soccer to Tackle Texas Wesleyan in Senior Night Slate

OKLAHOMA CITY – The MACU Men's Soccer team will be seeking to right the ship on Senior Night on Tuesday as the Evangels host Texas Wesleyan for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff at the Dill Soccer Field. Mid-America Christian will be holding its Senior Night Ceremony for its 14 seniors following the conclusion of the women's game at roughly 6:30 p.m.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 6-7-4 (4-2-2 SAC)
  • Last Match: Lost at (RV) John Brown – 2-0 – Oct. 25, 2025 – Siloam Springs, Ark.
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian had a four-minute spell that doomed its result at John Brown on Saturday as the Evangels gave up two goals in the first 3:49 of the second half in what ultimately went down as a 2-0 defeat at Alumni Field.
    • The result was a tough one for the MACU Men's Soccer team to take as the result officially eliminated it from contention for its fifth consecutive SAC regular season title. The last time in the conference to win four or more straight regular season championships was former member Southern Nazarene from 2004-07.
    • After scoring 15 goals through its first six SAC matches, the Evangels have been challenged to find the back of the net in its last two matches, as they've been shut out in back-to-back SAC matches for the first time since 2017.
    • Even though the Evangels cannot win the SAC regular season title this year, they still have locked up one of the top four seeds to host a quarterfinal round match on Tuesday, Nov. 4. MACU can still secure the No. 2 seed as well with a win over Texas Wesleyan and either two Oklahoma City ties, an OCU tie and a loss, or two OCU losses in its final two matches against John Brown and Central Christian this week.
    • Following the conclusion of the women's game at roughly 6:30 p.m., the Evangels will honor their 14 graduating seniors: Alvaro Morera, Toby Lansdowne, Ryan Jeanfreau, Josh Macklin, Lucas Catosso, Henry Tolbert, Carlos Lobo, Papa Toure, Tomas Bascon, Filippo Ruffi, Ayden Thompson, Alan Jaime, Franklin Gualan, Luke Berry.

  • Last Match vs MACU: MACU won 3-1 – Oct. 19, 2024 – Fort Worth, Texas

    • Axel Tonietto – SR – GK
      • 5-7 W-L, 1.89 GAA, 42 Saves, .667 SV%, 3 SHO, 1 CBO, 69 SF, 14 GP, 14 GS, 999 MIN
  • Team Notes:
    • Texas Wesleyan picked up a massive 1-0 win at Oklahoma Panhandle State last Friday as Nathaniel Neang's go-ahead goal just 65 seconds into the match was good enough to be the winner.
    • The Rams have been a team that has lived-and-died in one-score games in SAC play as all but one of TXWES' matches have been decided by a single goal, owning a 3-4 record in such games.
    • Overall, Texas Wesleyan sits in the middle of the pack in the SAC in scoring offense, netting 10 goals in its eight previous league games. However, the Rams have been suspect on the defensive end, ranking seventh in the league in goals allowed at 13.
    • A bulk load of the Rams goals this season have come from the trio of Louis Guffroy, Diogo Stefane, and Joel Kisukulu, who have each netted six goals. Of those three, Stefane has netted the most goals in league play with a pair. On the defensive side, senior goalkeeper Axel Tonietto has logged the most games in-goal for the Rams, posting a 5-7 record with a 1.89 goals allowed average and a .667 save percentage.
    • Mid-America Christian will be seeking to extend its win streak against Texas Wesleyan to double-digits as the Evangels have won the last nine meetings since the 2017 season. In last year's meeting, MACU came away with a 3-1 win in Fort Worth with Mario Garcia, Tony Ngombi, and Oscar Gallardo finding the back of the net on Oct. 19, 2024. When they last played at the Dill on Oct. 7, 2023, MACU came away with the 4-1 win with all five goals coming in the first half. Jack Price ended up on the brace with a pair of goals while Pietro Musso and Kolby Godbolt also tallied scores.
