No. 19 Men’s Soccer Returns Home to Battle No. 4 Oklahoma Wesleyan

OKLAHOMA CITY – After battling out a tough four-game road stretch, the No. 19 MACU Men's Soccer team will look forward to its second home match at the Dill Soccer Field on Thursday night, but the Evangels face one of their biggest challenges of the season against No. 4 Oklahoma Wesleyan.

SEASON REPORT
  • Record: 1-3-2
  • Last Match: Lost at No. 17 Keiser – 3-2 – Sept. 6, 2025 – West Palm Beach, Fla.
  • Stat Leaders:
  • Team Notes:
    • Mid-America Christian wrapped up a brutally tough road trip where the Evangels faced four teams either ranked or receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25, going 0-3-1 on the swing. The Evangels looked as though they might end the swing on a positive note after going up 2-0 at the half at No. 17 Keiser last Saturday, but the Evangels struggled to slow down an invigorated Seahawks squad that scored three second half goals to pull out the 3-2 come-from-behind win.
    • Currently on a three-game losing streak, MACU will be looking to clean things up on the defensive end. After only allowing one shorthanded goal against McPherson on Aug. 23 through their first three matches, the Evangels have conceded 10 goals combined in the last three matches.
    • In the match against the Seahawks, freshman center-back Hayden Hoxie netted his first career goal on a rebounded free kick off the foot of Carlos Lobo, at the time giving MACU the 1-0 advantage in the sixth minute.
    • On-top of the defensive struggles, the Evangels will be seeking some more balanced scoring as senior forward Ryan Jeanfreau has netted three of MACU's five goals so far this season. MACU as a team has struggled to generate much in its offensive attack, averaging just 7.7 shots per contest thus far.

  • Team Notes:
    • Much like the Evangels, Oklahoma Wesleyan has faced some tough tests to start out the 2025 season. After rallying to force a 3-3 draw against John Brown in its season-opener on Aug. 25, the Eagles picked up their first win with a massive 3-2 victory at No. 15 Baker on Aug. 30. OKWU faced its second-straight Top 25 foe at No. 15 LSU Shreveport on Sept. 3, battling the Pilots to a 1-1 draw after LSUS scored the equalizer in the 86th minute.
    • On the offensive side, sophomore striker Julian Tovar has paced the Eagles attack with three of the team's seven goals this season, notching a team-best seven points and effectively scoring on 33.3 percent of his shot attempts. Meanwhile, freshman forward Biel Campo has been the team's best distributor, entering Thursday night with three assists while attempting the most shots on the team with 10.
    • Freshman keeper Marko Rodic has gotten the start through the first three matches for the Eagles and while OKWU features a strong offensive attack, it has been prone to give up some scores. So far this season, Rodic is allowing 2.00 goals per game and has made 10 saves for a .625 save percentage while logging every minute in-net so far for the Eagles.
    • While the series between the two NAIA powerhouse programs is dead even at 4-4, the Evangels will be looking to avenge a loss in Bartlesville last season. In that match, MACU suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat. However, despite the result, the Evangels will be hoping that it can continue their home success against OKWU as MACU is 4-0 all-time at the Dill Soccer Field in the matchup. The last meeting between the two at the Dill came in the NAIA Tournament Second Round match on Nov. 19, 2022 as the Evangels pulled out a thrilling 2-0 victory.
