OKLAHOMA CITY – With MACU Men's Soccer entering into its first season with new Head Coach James Roberson at the helm, the Evangels added some championship pedigree to its coaching staff as James Westfield has been named the new Assistant Coach heading into the 2026 season.

"We are excited to welcome James to our program as the new Assistant Coach," remarked Roberson. "He brings with him a wealth of knowledge having worked at various different levels during his coaching career and we are excited for him to contribute to the growth of MACU Men's Soccer on a daily basis for our student-athletes."

Westfield comes to MACU after serving the Northeastern Junior College men's soccer program for the last four years, three of which coming as the Head Coach after spending one season as the Assistant Coach. The Englishman began his coaching career at Hastings, where he served as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

Westfield is returning the Sooner Athletic Conference after he competed with the Wayland Baptist men's soccer program from 2017-19. In just three seasons with the Pioneers, Westfield ended his WBU career as the program's all-time leading goal scorer, helped lead Wayland to an NAIA National Championship in 2017 and was a three-time All-SAC First Team honoree. In his freshman season played at Patrick Henry Community College, Westfield was named an NJCAA All-American when he pushed across 18 goals on the season.

"I am beyond excited to begin this new role at MACU," stated Westfield. "It is a true honor to join a program with such a proud history and tradition of success. I'm eager to contribute to the continued growth of MACU Men's Soccer and help build a culture of excellence on and off the field."

Mid-America Christian will start facing competition on Aug. 11 when it takes on Eastern Oklahoma State in a scrimmage at the Dill Soccer Field before officially opening the 2026 season at home on Aug. 20 against Paul Quinn.
