SCORING SUMMARY
GAME SUMMARY
- First Half
- It was a struggle for both teams offensively through the first 24 minutes as the two sides combined for just three off-target shots in that time frame.
- Mid-America Christian had the first good spell of possession for either side in the 25th minute when Haruya Higuchi flipped a shot on-goal that was saved by the keeper. On the ensuing corner, Necsar Rojas had his shot saved as well to keep MACU off the board.
- Neither side managed to muster much offense the rest of the way, but McPherson within a matter of minutes found themselves down to 10-men for the rest of the game. After Elliot Powrie was assessed a yellow on a violent tackle in the 41st minute, he was given a second with 1:51 remaining in the first half.
- Second Half
- While MACU started generating a bit more on the offensive end with Filliph Kamfjord putting a strong strike on-target in the 55th minute that was saved by Alvaro Marchal, the Evangels still struggled to find the back of the net through the first two-thirds of the contest.
- In the 63rd minute, the Evangels finally broke through. Matias Garcia and Higuchi played a nice bit of give-and-go with Garcia flipping a pass over the defense to Higuchi, relaying it to Garcia cutting into the box uncontested. Garcia powered his left-side blast past the keeper to set the score to 1-0.
- Just a few minutes later, Garcia got another great look on the left side of the box, however, his shot wasn't able to get enough power behind with Marchal pouncing on it for the easy save with just under 25 minutes to go.
- The Evangels struggled to put a shot on-goal the rest of the way, but MACU didn't need the insurance as it came away with the 1-0 result.
