Claudio Fuentealba is making his return to the MACU Men's Soccer program to serve as a Graduate Assistant Coach, primarily overseeing goalkeepers in the 2026 campaign.
Fuentealba is back after competing during the 2025 season at NCAA D-I New Hampshire, making seven appearances and six starts for the Wildcats. In those seven contests, Fuentealba posted a 3-2-1 record in-goal with a 1.67 goals allowed average as he tallied 22 saves for a .688 save percentage.
He was a member of the MACU Men's Soccer program for the 2023 and 2024 campaigns where he put together two of the best seasons for a keeper in program history. In those two campaigns, Fuentealba made 36 starts while posting an astounding 27-3-6 record in-goal. He notched a 0.81 goals allowed average and made 84 saves for a .743 save percentage to go along with 14 shutouts. Overall, Fuentealba ranks second in the team's record book for shutouts, third in wins, and goals allowed average, fourth in save percentage, and fifth in saves, games played, and minutes played (3135).
In 2024, Fuentealba was named both an NCCAA All-American (2nd Team) and NAIA All-American (3rd Team) to go along with being the Sooner Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a 12-3-3 record with a 0.85 goals allowed average. In that season, he made 37 saves for a .712 save percentage to go with six shutouts.
The 2023 campaign was an even better one for Fuentealba statistically as he amassed a perfect 15-0-3 record starting in-goal while only allowing a 0.77 goals allowed average. On-top of making 47 saves for a .770 save percentage, he notched eight shutouts on his way to earning his first SAC Goalkeeper of the Year honor to go along with an NCCAA First Team All-American honor.
Fuentealba is one of only two goalkeepers in program history to receive two NCCAA All-American honors.
Before coming to MACU, Fuentealba played his first two seasons for Holy Cross College (Ind.), where he competed in 32 games and made 29 starts for the Saints. In those contests, Fuentealba posted a 1.29 goals allowed average and made 107 saves for a .738 save percentage on his way to pitching seven shutouts and two combined shutouts.
