OKLAHOMA CITY - The Mid-America Christian University volleyball made great strides in 2018, and when the Sooner Athletic Conference announced its all-conference volleyball awards, the catalyst for much of that improvement was recognized by the SAC.
Alexa Bass was named to the All-SAC second team after a season that saw her impact the Evangels' season in nearly all facets of the game.
Bass, a 5-9 junior from Arglye, Texas, spent the season first as the Evangels' primary setter. She posted a team-leading 696 assists as the Evangels ran a 6-2 offense for much of the year, though near the end of the schedule, MACU shifted strategy and she set all the way around. Bass also led the Evangels with 52 service aces, and she added 134 kills, 232 digs, and 18 blocks. She had 10 double-doubles during the season, including a triple-double against John Brown University in the Evangels' home opener on September 7.
