Glass Joins MACU Training Staff

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University athletic training staff lost one of their two Athletic Trainers after the 2017-18 season, but on Monday, the Evangels announced the addition of Damon Glass to the staff to fill the void left by the departure of Becky Handel.

"When Damon approached us about joining our staff in an official capacity," explained MACU Athletics Director Marcus Moeller, "I couldn't say 'yes' fast enough. His expertise in the field matched with his feel for how to understand the needs of our student-athletes make him an incredible addition to our staff."

Glass is no stranger to the MACU athletic scene. He has been working for Dr. Sean O'Brien since 2005 when he joined the office of the Oklahoma Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine as the director of Sports Medicine Outreach. Under O'Brien, who is a MACU alum, Glass has been helping out the Evangels for the better part of a decade on an as needed basis. He has been doing outreach athletic training since 1999, working both high school and college sports in that time. He has also been covering the Oklahoma state motocross series since 2006, and he has been an athletic trainer for the PRCA National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma since 2015.

"I am excited to join the MACU athletic staff in the role of Assistant Athletic Trainer," Glass stated. "The experience I have already in working with the program over the last few years will give me an opportunity to provide the student-athletes and coaches a smooth transition as we prepare for another season. With the fall seasons right around the corner, this is a hectic, but fun, time of year, and I look forward to the challenges that this new role will present."

Head Athletic Trainer Justin Gordon noted, "Damon is a great addition to our staff here at MACU. His credentials and resume speak for themselves, and his demeanor and familiarity with our student-athletes, coaches, and staff will help him slide into the position seamlessly. I am eager to see how his addition to the day-to-day staff adds to our dynamic as we continue to ensure that our student-athletes are well prepared and well cared for."
