Women’s Soccer Prepared To Take On Crosstown Rival Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian women's soccer team will be seeking out its fifth straight as the Evangels will travel uptown to take on Oklahoma City for a 5 p.m. match at Brian Harvey Field tomorrow night.

LAST TIME OUT

After being held scoreless in the opening half, Mid-America Christian (8-3-1, 3-1-1 Sooner Athletic Conference) put together a dominant second half performance at Southwestern Christian on Oct. 15, tallying three goals in the final 45 minutes of regulation. Sylvie Willie netted the Evangels game-winner in the 51st minute while Bayleigh Fink scored her fifth goal of the season and Liz Lozano added her team-best 10th goal in the 81st minute. The offensive production was widespread in the victory as Brooklyn Fink, Kelsey Henry and Alex White each recorded assists in the winning effort.

SCOUTING THE STARS

Fourth place in the SAC will be on the line Tuesday as Oklahoma City currently holds a two-point edge over the Evangels with 12 conference points by holding a 4-2 SAC mark and an 8-6 overall record. If MACU can get the win, they would score three points and jump OCU in the conference standings.

The Stars are coming off a pair of victories last week, as OCU pulled out a 3-1 win at Central Christian on Oct. 16 before returning home for a 3-0 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God on Saturday.

Sophomore midfielder Madi Caputo will lead a balanced Oklahoma City attack, tallying a team-best nine goals along with three assists for a program-high 21 points, the ninth-best mark in the conference. Jessica Titsworth has also been a strong contributor with six goals and 15 points while Rachel Brantley has passed out a team-high five assists and three scores for 11 points.

Nadine Sneider will be looking to make her 15th start in goal, as she ranks fourth in the league with a 1.66 goals against average to go with 32 saves on a .593 save percentage.

HISTORY WITH THE STARS

Mid-America Christian will be looking for its first win in four matches against the Stars as Oklahoma City enters Tuesday with a three-match win streak over the Evangels, including a pair of wins last season while holding a 10-3 edge in the all-time series. The last time the two teams met was MACU's season finale as OCU came away with a 4-1 win over the Evangels in the SAC Tournament Quarterfinal on Nov. 2, 2018.

SAVED BY ZERO

Not only will the Evangels be hunting for their first win over Oklahoma City since 2016, but MACU will also be gunning for its fourth consecutive shutout. Since pitching an 11-0 shutout over Bacone on Oct. 8, MACU has recorded a 4-0 victory over SAGU along with last week's 3-nil win at Southwestern Christian. The last time the Evangels shut out four straight opponents happened during MACU's highly successful 2010 campaign. During that season, the Evangels pitched six straight shutouts with wins over Southwestern Christian, Bacone, Southwestern College (Kan.), McPherson, St. Gregory's and Lubbock Christian as Mid-America Christian turned in the best season in program history with a 16-4-1 record and an 8-2-1 mark against SAC competition.
