CHICKASHA, Okla. – The Mid-America Christian women's soccer team ran into a red-hot No. 9 University of Science & Arts team as the Evangels fell 7-0 to the Drovers on Tuesday night in the Sooner Athletic Conference Semifinal.
MACU had no answer for the top scoring team in the NAIA as the Drovers outshot the Evangels 25-3 with an 18-3 edge in shots on-goal.
Junior goalkeeper Jennifer Starwalt opened the game with a phenomenal diving save in the fifth minute, but the Evangels could not slow the Drovers after USAO's Emma Rice started the scoring with an eight-minute goal.
Liz Lozano, Ariadna Ramirez and Kelsey Henry took a shot apiece for MACU, each putting the shots on-target.
Mid-America Christian ends the SAC Tournament and regular season with a 12-5-1 record. With the Evangels potentially contending to host the NCCAA Central Region, MACU will now await to see who they will face first in the postseason. The NCCAA Central Region Tournament is slated to start on Monday, Nov. 18.
