OKLAHOMA CITY - For freshman golfers Hannah Price and Kirstin Westlake, the 2018-19 Mid-America Christian University women's golf season was a chance for the two of them to get a taste of collegiate golf without the pressure of a team score. The two represented MACU well for the final time this season over the weekend at the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship, finishing only one stroke apart on the final leaderboard.
Price claimed a 37th place finish with a final round 88, and Westlake shot 90 over the final 18 holes to finish 38th in the event.
Price got off to a modest start on Saturday. She parred two of the first four holes, but she scuffled a bit over the last five holes on the front nine and she made the turn at 45. She started quickly on the back side, posting a par-birdie start to the final nine, and she finished the back nine in 43 for a final round 88 to finish the tournament at 174 and alone in 37th place.
Westlake was a bit more consistent through her round, but she shot 48 over the first nine holes. Westlake got things going in the middle of the back nine, as she parred holes 14, 15, and 17 on her way to a 42 on the inward nine to shoot 90 and finish one stroke behind Price at 175 and in 38th place.
The event marks the end of the season for MACU women's golf, as well as the two intrepid freshmen who helped get MACU women's golf back out on the links this season.
