OKLAHOMA CITY – Coming off a pair of three-set sweeps over Southwestern Christian and Central Christian in their second home tri-match of the season on Saturday, Mid-America Christian took home a pair of Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards on Monday.
For the fourth consecutive time this season, senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker was tabbed as the SAC Attacker of the Week while senior libero Maegan Plunk was selected as the Defender of the Week for the third time this year.
Between the two matches over the weekend, Foecker recorded 33 kills on a .422 attack percentage to go with four service aces and three total blocks. In the win over Southwestern Christian, Foecker once again found herself in the MACU NAIA era record book by notching 19 kills on a .471 attack percentage while tallying all four of her aces during the match to go with an assisted block.
The 19-kill effort tied her own third-best mark in a three-set match, as she now holds the top four spots in the MACU record book. Her .471 clip on the attack was also her second-highest of the season.
Foecker followed it up with a 14-kill effort against Central Christian, hitting for a .367 percentage and tying a season-high two assisted blocks on the defensive end.
By averaging 5.5 kills per set in the home meet, Foecker raised her season average to 5.07, which currently ranks as the second-best clip in the NAIA and is one of only two players in the nation to be averaging at least five kills per set.
Plunk continued to perform at a high level on the defensive end for the Evangels as the Rowlett, Texas native returned to the SAC Defender of the Week podium after finishing with 33 digs, averaging 5.5 digs per set in the pair of three-set sweeps.
While Plunk recorded 12 digs against the Eagles, she closed out the meet with a strong 21-dig effort in the win over the Tigers, recording her fifth 20-plus dig match of the season and the 19th in her three-year career with the Evangels. It was also the fourth time this season that Plunk had averaged at least seven digs per set in a single match and was the 10th time she accomplished the feat in her MACU career.
Plunk currently ranks sixth in the NAIA in digs per set, averaging 6.53 so far this season.
Mid-America Christian's lone match this week will take place at Arlington Baptist on Tuesday night for a 5 p.m. start as the Evangels will be aiming for the home-and-away sweep this season against the Patriots.
