KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After becoming the program's first ever NAIA Attacker of the Week just three weeks prior, senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker of the Mid-America Christian volleyball team continued to cement her legacy on Tuesday by becoming the program's first ever multi-recipient of the award.
Foecker was named the NAIA Attacker of the Week for the second time in three weeks when she led the Evangels to a pair of three-set sweeps over Southwestern Christian and Central Christian in a home tri-match on Saturday.
The 6-2 outside hitter from Sudlohn, Germany recorded 33 kills on a .422 attack percentage to go along with four service aces, three total blocks and 11 digs in six sets of work.
Foecker was nearly unstoppable in the tri-match opener against Southwestern Christian, when she tallied 19 kills on a .471 hitting percentage to go along with four service aces and seven digs with a block on the defensive end. Her 19-kill effort matched the third-highest mark in a three-set match in the NAIA (2007-present) era as Foecker now holds the top four kills marks in a three-set match in the program's NAIA era record book.
Foecker came out with another strong performance against Central Christian in the night cap, notching 14 kills on a .367 attack percentage to go with a season-high two blocks at the net.
Through eight matches this season, Foecker ranks second in the NAIA at 5.07 kills per set as she is only one of two players in the nation that is averaging more than five kills per set. Her 142 kills are coming on a career-best .284 attack percentage, which currently ranks as the fifth-highest mark in the Sooner Athletic Conference while her 10 service aces is the fourth-most in the league.
Mid-America Christian is currently off to one of the best starts in program history with a 7-1 record as the Evangels have won seven straight since dropping the season-opener to Oklahoma Wesleyan, breaking the program's NAIA era win streak record.
The Evangels will be looking to carry the momentum into their match tonight at Arlington Baptist. MACU will look to sweep the season series against the Patriots with the match slated for a 5 p.m. start.
