OKLAHOMA CITY – For the third consecutive time to start the 2020-21 season, Hanna Foecker was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week while Ryann Hale took home her third straight SAC Setter of the Week accolade on Monday.
A 6-2 outside hitter from Sudlohn, Germany, Foecker helped lead the MACU attack with a season-high 23 kills on a .263 attack percentage, guiding the Evangels to a 3-1 win over Arlington Baptist on Oct. 1.
Foecker nearly tied yet another Evangels record, as she was one kill away from matching the program's NAIA era four-set kills record of 24 set by Jessica Chestnut against Oklahoma Wesleyan all the way back on Oct. 31, 2007. Heading into the week, not only does Foecker lead the SAC, but also ranks third in the NAIA in kills per set at 4.95.
Foecker also stepped up on the defensive end against ABU, recording a season-high 15 digs to turn in her 10th career double-double in just two seasons with the program.
Hale continued to build upon her banner year by notching a new career-high for assists with 29 in the victory over the Patriots. The 5-6 redshirt junior setter averaged 7.25 assists per set in the victory while notching a season-high five service aces to go with nine digs on the defensive end.
Currently, the Oklahoma City native leads the SAC in both total assists (114) as well as service aces (12) while also ranking fifth in the league in digs (51).
Mid-America Christian will return to play on Saturday as the Evangels will be host Central Christian and Southwestern Christian at the Gaulke Activity Center in their second home tri-match of the season. MACU will open the meet against the Eagles at 1 p.m. and will return to the court at 5 p.m. following the Central Christian/Southwestern Christian match to take on the Tigers.
