OKLAHOMA CITY – Despite the Mid-America Christian volleyball team suffering a tough defeat at Oklahoma Panhandle State last Friday, senior outside hitter Hanna Foecker put together a strong offensive performance against the Aggies to garner the Sooner Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week award on Monday.
The 6-2 outside hitter from Sudlohn, Germany finished the three-set match with 14 kills, averaging 4.66 kills per set on a .360 attack percentage.
Foecker is currently one of the best attackers in the NAIA, as her 198 kills at a 4.6 kills per set clip ranks as the fifth-highest kill-per-set rate in the nation. Foecker is also hitting for a .245 attack percentage this season, which ranks sixth in the Sooner Athletic Conference and is the highest rate of any outside hitter in the league.
It is the fifth time Foecker has been named the league's attacker of the week, becoming the first player to earn the offensive honor five times since Wayland Baptist's Shahala Hawkins accomplished the feat during the 2015 campaign.
Mid-America Christian is preparing for its final home match of 2020 as the Evangels will host Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) for a 7 p.m. start at the Gaulke Activity Center on Friday, Nov. 13.
