MACU Volleyball Repeats Sweep Of SAC Player of the Week Awards

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian women's volleyball team saw a little bit of déjà vu on Monday as the Evangels swept the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week awards for the second straight week.

Much like last week, it was the same three Evangels who received the honors, as Hanna Foecker collected the offensive award, Maegan Plunk took home the defensive honor and Ryann Hale was once again selected as the setter of the week.

In MACU's pair of three-set sweeps against Bethel (Kan.) and Friends (Kan.) in a tri-match hosted by the Falcons last week, Foecker was instrumental in her aggressive attack at the net. In the two matches combined, the 6-2 outside hitter turned in 40 kills (6.67 kills per set), which included tying her own NAIA era three-set record of 21 kills against the Threshers.

Foecker recorded a .377 attack percentage in the six sets of action, raising her season attack percentage to .251 on the season. In the win against Friends, Foecker played some near flawless volleyball, as the Sudlohn, Germany native blasted 19 kills and only committed two attack errors on a .436 attack percentage while also turning in a season-high five service aces to just one service error.

In the backline, Plunk continues to play some of the best defensive volleyball in the league, turning in 54 digs while averaging nine digs per set. In the victory against the Threshers, Plunk came away with 28 digs, finishing just one shy of tying Camera Broadnax's three-set match record while also tallying a season-high seven assists. The 5-3 libero from Rowlett, Texas followed it up with a 24-dig performance against the Falcons to with four assists to give her a combined 11 assists between the two matches.

A 5-6 setter from Oklahoma City, Hale recorded her second straight double-double against the Threshers, dishing out 20 assists to go with 13 digs in the backcourt. In the win over the Falcons, Hale topped it with 21 assists, a new career-high for her in a three-set match.

Mid-America Christian will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 1 as the Evangels will be back at home to take on Arlington Baptist at 6 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
