Hanna Foecker Tabbed As NAIA Attacker of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A week removed from garnering the program's first ever NAIA Player of the Week honor, the Evangels added one more as senior Hanna Foecker was named the NAIA Attacker of the Week on Tuesday.

Since joining the NAIA and Sooner Athletic Conference in 2007, the Evangels never had a player receive the national weekly honor until senior libero Maegan Plunk earned the league's defensive honor last week for her performance against Oklahoma Wesleyan on Sept. 14.

A 6-2 outside hitter from Sudlohn, Germany, Foecker continued to put up unprecedented numbers in the attack last week in the Friends (Kan.) Tri-Match on Sept. 22. Helping guide the Evangels to a pair of three-set sweeps over Bethel (Kan.) and the host Falcons, Foecker finished the meet with 40 kills, averaging 6.67 kills per set on a .377 attack percentage to go with six service aces and 15 digs.

In the opening match against the Threshers, Foecker tied her own program three-set match record with 21 kills on a .333 attack percentage. The mark matched her 21-kill effort against Wayland Baptist on Oct. 14, 2019, which shattered the previous best of 18 shared between Breeana Fritschow, Emily Moore and Jessica Chestnut.

In the following match against Friends, Foecker took the third-best single match kills mark for herself as well, finishing with 19 kills on a blistering .436 attack percentage. Foecker notched her ninth career double-double, finishing the match with 13 digs while also tallying a season-high five service aces.

Foecker currently ranks as one of the top attackers in the NAIA so far this season, as her 4.78 kills per set rate ranks as the third-best clip in the nation so far this season.

It is the second national weekly accolade for Foecker this season after being selected on Monday as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Student-Athlete of the Week.

The Evangels will be back at home on Thursday, Oct. 1 as MACU will take on Arlington Baptist for a 6 p.m. match at the Gaulke Activity Center.
